Clever technology ensures data integrity

Until now The Really Real Time ® Inquiry Suite has only retrieved data from the secure JD Edwards ERP database.

When we developed Really Real Time ® Budgeting, our customers wanted to be able to enter information into a new kind of ledger type but also have the flexibility of incorporating all the of JD Edwards information side by side.

This was an interesting challenge as most budgeting systems end up using a different database to JD Edwards. This causes integrity, reporting and security issues as you end up exporting actual data from the general ledger into these other databases.

What The GL Company has developed is the capability to build brand new ledger types outside of JD Edwards that actually function as if they were real JD Edwards ones. Data can now be entered directly into them through our Executive Console or Power user interface. Another requirement was to enable Excel spreadsheets, which can be used for detailed budgeting at a lower level, to link directly into the high level templates.

Two Parts to Budgeting

Part One
Having achieved these goals, Really Real Time ® Budgeting needed to address the work flow and following up on the budget holders/contributors to ensure contributors have submitted in time.

The first step in our budgeting software sets up the people who are expected to contribute in the budgeting process. Then the controllers build the high level templates that will be used for reporting and analysis.

Once these are built they are published through the Executive Console, ready for the forms to be filled in.

Part Two
The contributors can now either enter the numbers or cut and paste from a more detailed spreadsheet that has further calculations.
